Church Members of Jericho Praise Build New Website About Scandal

Thanks to your friends over at TheChurchLadyBlogs.com for the heads up about the church members of Jericho City of Praise making a stand to educate and expose the misdeeds of the church faculty through a new website.

Here's the report:

 The members of Jericho have now went one step further by creating their own tell it all website: PeopleOfPraiseMD.

Jericho City of Praise  battle of control includes everything fromfighting during the offering in a church service, non disclosure of vital financial information and possible conflicts of interest with regard to IRS TAX Codes,  (Dorothy Williams deposition)  to forming a collaborated smear campaign against Elder Joel based on basically the staff’s displeasure of his alleged arrogant attitude (Clarence Jackson deposition). and, style of preaching.  In my opinion only, Jericho’s church staff appears to be  operating in a spirit of  fear in losing their positions within the church due to the ungodly behavior they have directed to Elder Joel who now and rightfully so, feels they cannot be trusted. What was most disturbing to me was a letter forwarded to Pastor Joel Peeples alerting  him that the Board  (church staff members) have decided to invite another preacher into his pulpit.  to preach one of the two Sunday morning worship services.

Church Members May Sue Board of Jericho City of Praise

We received some updated news on the controversial church matter involving Jericho City of Praise members, church board members and Pastor Joel Peebles.

According to a report from our friends at The Church Lady Blogs, Pastor Joel Peebles has filed to appeal the recent decision to give the six board members control over the church's financial and administrative management.

The Washingon Post reported that Joel Peeples, 41 asked Judge Dwight Jackson to rescind his decision and allow him to take his place on the board of trustees. Judge Jackson gave gave control of the church’s administration to six men and women who claim they had been named to a new governing board in 2009 by Peebles’ mother, Apostle Betty Peebles, who died in October 2010. The decision effectively removed leadership from the hands of a Peebles for the first time since the church was founded in 1964.

Also, the pastor insists that he and two others were wrongly removed from the board.

Did The Late Betty Peebles Leave Word to Remove Her Son as Pastor of Jericho City of Praise?

We wonder if the late pastor of the church, Betty Peebles knew what drama would follow after she left much control of the church int he hands of a small group of board members? 

Even after the judge ordered the pastor no financial control over the church, the board members have allegedly took it upon themselves to lock the pastor out of the church?

Church members are holding worship services every night this week, refusing to let the board disband the pastor they've known for years. Joel Peebles has been helping lead worship services for the past 20 years. In her will, however, Betty Peebles turned control of the church over to a six-member board, not Joel.

“We as the members of this church will not tolerate this board trying to search for a new pastor when we have one,” one person at the worship service said.

Members of Jericho City of Praise say on Tuesday afternoon, Joel Peebles came to the church and found the locks had been changed, a move they blame on the church's governing.

Issac Marks, attorney for the church board, said the church changed the locks after audio equipment was taken from church over the weekend.

“Why would we lock him out if we want him to continue to preach here?” Marks asked. But the head of the audio department says no equipment was stolen.
