Byron Cage is not only the Minister of Music at Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, MD and at St. Paul's Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, but he is now taking on a new role as the host of Radio One's Sunday Joy in Washington, D.C.

Le'Andria Johnson Rebukes The Church Who Judge Her New Baby Out of Wedlock

Gospel singer Le’Andria Johnson is feeling persecuted by the church and others. As news was reported recently, she became pregnant and had the child out of wedlock. She's a single mother who has been divorced twice and says her name has been drug in the mud about the choices and or mistakes she has made in her life.

“You get pregnant out of wedlock and the whole world turns against you. That's how it felt,” she said in an interview with Essence Magazine.

She just welcomed a new son into the world named, Caelington Forrest Walker. Eur Web is reporting Le'Andria Johnson gave birth to her fourth child on September 12, 2012 Caelington Forrest Walker who was named after his father and Le' Andria’s long time mate, Forrest Walker...

We want to thank EEW Magazine for discussing this issue. We saw the clip of Iyanla Vanzant and Oprah speaking on their Super Soul Sunday segment on the OWN Network. Iyanla was asked by Oprah 'What is your current spiritual practice?' Now, those are fancy words for 'What do you do to stay spiritually grounded?' Her answers sounded very good like: 'I read the bible daily' and 'Music Ministers'.

We are happy she found out how moving gospel singer Donnie McClurkin's song: 'Great is Your Mercy' can be for anyone who hears it. We love that song too. It's one of the most liberating songs for the soul, but why did they need to switch from gospel music to secular?...

Texas Pastor Darrell Wayne Blair Charged on Allegations of Sexual Assault

Just another day and another pastor accused of sexual crimes against children. This case declares the pastor has allegedly been able to cover the sins he committed but today, the victim says 'no more'.
Darrell Wayne Blair is the pastor at New Breed Christian Center in Fort Worth, Texas was arrested Monday and booked into the Crowley Jail, on charges of sexual assault.

According to a Crowley Police report, a warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday morning and around 4 p.m. By Monday afternoon Blair turned himself into police where he was arrested and booked into jail.

Pastor Blair immediately posted out on a $25,000 bond and was released.

According the the police report, one of the alleged incidents took place in May 2000 at a residence in Crowley. The New Breed Christian Church pastor in Fort Worth is being charged from allegations stemming from a sexual assault in 2000 when the woman was 18.

R&B Singer Chaka Khan To Drop a Gospel Album?

We now have Chaka Khan giving her try on singing gospel. BET's The Gospel According to Torrence has reported she's working on a Gospel EP which should be released in January.

We saw Chaka Khan sing gospel at Oprah's Gospel Brunch on Youtube and of course she did a great job. All we ask is if she can do it in a way that exemplifies the heart of God. We pray she does not invite the hip hop and R&B into the mix.

But we have to say that we wish artists would choice one or the other. We know that people have talents in many different areas but it really does confuse their audience into thinking its o.k. to serve two masters. This is mentioned only in the sense that the genres are mixed and it gives us a distorted sense of holiness and total reverence to God.

The Saint Paul's Baptist Church of Richmond, Virginia announced  that gospel singer Byron Cage will join the organization as the new Minister of Music. Cage will oversee and lead the implementation of a dynamic, multi-generational worship ministry as well as provide high achievement leadership at all three campuses.

Gospel's  Deitrick Haddon and Wife Divorce, Announced Via Twitter

The popular gospel singer and pastor Deitrick Haddon and his wife Damita were pretty inseparable over the years. They were one of the few gospel artists and people of God who stood with (NOM) National Organization of Marriage. But the singer has announced just this week via Twitter that he and his wife are no longer together. In fact, he tweeted on his page on Aug. 13, that he and Damita have been separated or over a year now; which he states is old news for them but new news for the public. He also explained they are very private people so no one knew until now.

On his Twitter page, he seems to blame himself for the breakdown of his marriage, if not both of them:

“If I was that powerful of a man of God, I would still be married to Damita. I’m learning to have balance. You can win and lose at the same time.”

Pastor Mark Jackson Past Exposed: Caught Up in Stripper's Extortion and Nude Photos

Former Knicks now pastor and Golden State Warriors coach was being extorted by a woman he had a relationship with who was a stripper. The pastor and coach was being extorted for nearly $200,000 from an affair he had with a New York stripper in 2006. At the time of the affair, he was working as a ESPN/ABC broadcaster and married to his wife which nearly ruined their family.

Buxom dancer Alexis Adams and accused co-conspirator Marcus Shaw were busted for the purported plot against Jackson. Jackson initially paid out $5,000 cash for the six-year-old photos and a CD of his voice messages to Adams when approached by Shaw before an April 3 game in Memphis, according to federal court documents filed in Oakland. When the assailants wanted more money from Jackson, he went to the FBI for assistance in the matter.

Our sister site AT2W, writes a lot about how gospel music has changed and made a total impact on the secular world as well as the church community. If you are old enough to remember, gospel music used to really stir the soul and get us up out of our seats to worship our Lord, Jesus Christ. Though what they call 'gospel music' today may seem very popular and moving, it will never equate to what the pioneers did for us years ago.

So, instead of frowning on how the church has embraced the hip hop and R&B music trends, we are going to look back and enjoy where we came from.
