Parents of Handcuffed Girl Speak Out: How Could This Be Allowed In America When Parents Are Not Allowed Corporal Punishment?

This child in the above photo, Salecia Johnson was handcuffed by Milledgeville police.  We feel they did not have to go that far, simply because if this nation disagrees with corporal punishment, then they do not have the authority to take arrest and put them in jail.  Now, this child may look very sweet, but obviously if she was allegedly throwing furniture and pushing other children around, then there is a problem with discipline at home.   No child should have such authority to bully other children or their teachers and if this is true, Salecia could be getting her way in her parents house and when she acts out, possibly there is no correction.  If this is true, no wonder she was allegedly having behavioral issues.   However, the police arresting her may have been too harsh, but there seems to have been an actual previous problem at school that led to this situation of her being arrested by police.

We encourage parents to discipline children at home, according to God's Word.  The Bible says in Proverbs 13:24, 'He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.'  In Proverbs 22:16, it says this, 'Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him. In Proverbs 29:16 it says this, 'The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.'   Therefore, the Bible is right and if corporal punishment is not allowed all over America, no wonder many children are allegedly throwing tantrums while at school.  When some politicians have opposed God's Word, they cannot expect children not to rebel in the presence of their parents, teachers or any other adults whom are in authority over themParents, civil rights activists and politicians must yield to God and His Word, if they desire for children to respect them.   Speaking of civil rights activists,  Rev. Al Sharpton spoke out in support in support of Salecia Johnson's parents; but as a man of God, did he ask if she is disciplined at home?   We question Rev. Sharpton's stance, blaming the school and police for treating the Salecia Johnson like a criminal, instead of making sure she is disciplined at home, according to God's Word.   For a child must honor their elders at home, before they can respect them at school and Rev. Sharpton is old enough to know this fact.  It is a possibility, Johnson was acting out so much, they did not know what to do.   However, we believe, they should have called the parents first and inform them at least, she was being arrested by police.

Furthermore, many children have tested authority and often get away with their mischief, especially at home.   We are not sure, but possibly this is the case with Salecia Johnson.   If so, we pray not only she accepts Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, but her parents also need to know God and serve Him.
